Shawn Bolton, DVM

USDA APHIS VS Emergency Coordinator  /  Nashville, TN

Dr. Bolton is the Area Emergency Coordinator for USDA APHIS Veterinary services with responsibilities in Tennessee, Alabama, and South Carolina. He began his career with APHIS in July 2004 as a field veterinary medical officer in western Tennessee.  He obtained his veterinary degree from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1990 and then returned to his home state of TN and entered private practice.  His practice years were exclusively dedicated to food animal health and production with a concentration in swine health management.  He is a 1995 graduate of the Swine Executive Program in Health Management from Iowa State and the University of Illinois.

Dr. Bolton’s primary work interests are emergency response and disease incident management.  He has deployed to numerous disease events in multiple states including TB, LPAI, and most recently 4 deployments to the 2015 HPAI incident.  He currently serves as the Operations Section Chief for the VS Red National Incident Management Team.

Todd Duenckel, DVM

USDA APHIS Veterinary Services  /  Nashville, TN

Dr. Todd Duenckel is the USDA APHIS Veterinary Medical Officer for Eastern Tennessee.  Following completion of a Bachelor in Animal Science from the University of Louisiana Lafayette and graduation from the Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1991, Dr. Duenckel was in Dairy practice in Franklinton Louisiana.  After joining APHIS in 2003, Dr. Duenckel became an alumnus of the University of Tennessee with a masters of Public Health degree.

Nicki Humphrey, DVM

USDA APHIS VS  /  Nashville, TN

Dr. Humphrey was raised on a cattle ranch in Northern California and spent several years raising steers in 4-H and FFA. She obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture: with an emphasis in Animal Science from California State University, Chico in 2007. In 2011 she obtained her DVM from Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. After graduation she worked as a mixed animal associate veterinarian for practices in Northern California and Southern Oregon. In 2013 Dr. Humphrey started a mixed animal mobile practice. She served as a Public Health Veterinarian for the USDA Food Safety Inspection Service for a year and a half before joining APHIS as a field VMO in Nashville, TN in 2015. She is currently serving as the Designated Scrapie Epidemiologist for TN. In her free time Dr. Humphrey enjoys riding horses, working cattle and cooking/baking.

Harley Sutton, DVM

USDA APHIS VS TN  /  Nashville, TN

Harley was raised in Central Kentucky where he attended U of K and received his BS in Animal Sciences. He graduated from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. He practiced in Sweetwater, TN at a mixed practice for a year. Upon returning to KY he practiced at Central KY Veterinary Center for 19 years. After moving to Tennessee he joined Veterinary Services as a Veterinary Medical Officer (VMO) in 2002. In 2003 he enjoyed the weather in Southern California while working on the Exotic New Castle Disease Task Force. In 2004 he became a Foreign Animal Disease Diagnostician. Since 2008 he· has been a guest lecturer Foreign Animal Disease Diagnostician for The Foreign Animal Disease Course for Professional Development Services at FADDL at Plum Island. In 2015 he participated in the High Pathogenic Avian Influenza Incident in Minnesota for Veterinary Services.
