18 Oct Tennessee Veterinary Medical Foundation Supports Veterinarians and Animal Welfare in the Aftermath of Hurricane Helene
The Tennessee Veterinary Medical Foundation (TVMF), a 501(c)(3) organization committed to promoting the human-animal bond, scholarships for veterinary students, and providing disaster relief, is stepping up to help veterinarians affected by the devastation of Hurricane Helene. The storm, which struck Eastern Tennessee and Western North Carolina on September 27, 2024, has caused widespread damage, impacting thousands of residents, agriculture and businesses as well as local veterinary practices and animal welfare services.
To date, TVMF has raised over $16,000 to provide disaster relief to veterinarians, their clinics, and the broader veterinary community affected by this disaster. These funds will be allocated to help veterinarians who have lost their clinics in the flooding and to support animal welfare programs working to rescue and care for animals during this difficult time. In addition, TVMF will donate to relief efforts in North Carolina to ensure aid reaches that hardest hit by the storm.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone impacted by Hurricane Helene,” said Dr. Forrest Reynolds, Trustee Chair of TVMF. “Veterinarians are essential to the health of animals and the communities they serve. We are proud to support them as they work to rebuild their practices and continue providing care under these challenging circumstances.”
